Beatriz Braga had another strong match with a match-high 12 kills, six digs, and three blocks to lead the Hofstra volleyball team to a dominating three-set sweep of Elon on Sunday afternoon at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center. Braga committed only one error in the match on 22 swings for a .500 attack percentage.
Nil Kayaalp posted a match-high 16 digs in the contest, while
Nina Jioshvili-Ravva had 26 assists, seven service aces, six digs, and four blocks. The seven service aces are the most for a Hofstra player since
Constanza Perez Sain had eight against Navy on August 31, 2024.
Hofstra improved to 11-2 and 4-2 in CAA play with the win. Elon dropped to 4-11 and 2-2 in conference with the loss. Set scores were 25-12, 25-16, and 25-12.
The Pride was never seriously challenged in the match as Hofstra hit at a .545 clip in the opening stanza to get going offensively and held the Phoenix to a negative hitting percentage in each of the first two sets to showcase their stellar defense.
Lilia Duczek chipped in with five kills and a team-high seven blocks for the Pride, which also got 10 kills and 11 digs from
Izadora Stedile.
Clara Simmons had seven kills for Elon, which also got nine assists and six digs from April Rice.
Hofstra heads on the road for its next two matches as the Pride will face Hampton on Thursday and Friday down in Virginia.
