Hofstra Welcomes PLL And Lacrosse’s Best To Shuart Stadium On September 10

8/28/2023 3:00:00 PM

Hempstead, NY - The world's best lacrosse players will visit the world's best lacrosse facility this September as the Premier Lacrosse League will host its two semifinal contests on Sunday, September 10 at venerable James M. Shuart Stadium

Game times are set for 3 and 5:30 p.m.

Hofstra University and the Department of Athletics are proud to partner with the PLL to host this incredible day of lacrosse that will send two teams to the championship game!

Shuart Stadium has long been a home of championship-level lacrosse - from previous visits from the PLL, to postseason NCAA lacrosse contests, and to high school championship events. The best of the best have made their mark at Shuart Stadium. Shuart Stadium can once again be the home to professional lacrosse as the league has named New York as one of its 26 finalists for its "2024 Home City Voting". Fans are encouraged to visit PLLVote.com to have their voices heard!

Professional lacrosse has a long history at Shuart Stadium. The Long Island/New York Lizards were an original member of Major League Lacrosse and called Shuart Stadium home from 2001 until 2020. The Lizards won a trio of titles during their history in the MLL.

Three outstanding Hofstra alums are currently playing in the PLL and will have the chance to return to their roots on September 10 with a possible appearance in the semifinals.

Josh Bryne ('17) has established himself as one of the league's most electrifying players during his career and currently competes for the Chaos, Jack Concannon ('18) is a member of the Atlas and is a two-time all-star, and Finn Sullivan ('16) is a member of the Cannons and has been an all-star and a champion during his career. Hofstra Head Coach Seth Tierney is also deeply involved with the PLL as he serves as the chairman of the PLL's Lacrosse Advisory Board and as the league's head of competition.
