Hempstead, NY - Hofstra rising sophomore goalie Luchianna Cardello has been invited to the tryouts for the 2024 U.S. Women's U20 National Team. 

The tryouts will be held July 7-9 in preparation for the world championship which will be held in Hong Kong, China from August 15-25, 2024.

Cardello appeared in 12 games and started 11 for Hofstra in 2023. She made 106 saves and tallied a save percentage of .424 and a goals against average of 12.43. Cardello ranked second in the league in saves per game, fourth in save percentage, and fifth in goals against average. She also added 21 ground balls (third on the team) and three caused turnovers. Cardello had a season-best 14 saves against Delaware. 

The 99 players invited to the tryout come from 14 states, and the District of Columbia, and represent 27 colleges through their current teams or commitments. This will be the most experienced team in U.S. history with the increase in age level, and 37 of the players invited to tryouts have made USA Select teams in the last two years as part of the National Team Development Program.
