Pride In 10th Place Following First Round Of CAA Championship

Beaufort, SC - Dino Capazario shot a +4 in the opening round of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship to lead the Hofstra men's golf team and the Pride is in 10th place as a team after day one. The three-day tournament is being held at Dataw Island on the Morgan River/Cotton Dike courses. The par 72 course is playing 6,998 yards for the championship. 

Hofstra opened the championship with Taishi Shigaki hitting the first shot of the tournament en route to a first round score of +8. Shigaki had a trio of birdies during his opening round, tying him with Capazario for team-high honors on the day. 

Joseph Giamanco finished second for the Pride in the first round, shooting +7. He birdied his final hole of the front nine. 

Two birdies on the front nine for Vincent Apostolico buoyed him early on as he went on to shoot a +9. 

Jaxon Hummel posted a first round score of +12 to close the day for the Pride. 

The second round of the CAA Championship gets underway on Monday at 8:30 a.m.
