Ferrise and Kang Named Captains

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Men's Golf Coach Joe Elliott announced today the appointment of sophomore Charlie Ferrise and junior Eugene Kang as captains for the Pride ahead of the 2025-26 season. 

"I am please to announce the appointment of Charlie Ferrise as captain and Eugene Kang as assistant captain of the men's golf team," shared Elliott. "This decision was made after careful consideration of their outstanding leadership qualities, dedication to the sport and commitment to team excellence."

Ferrise, a sophomore from Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, has played 21 rounds in 8 events for the Pride. In his first season with the Pride, he averaged 77.95 stokes per round and shot a low round 72 twice during the 2024-25 season. Ferrise was a spring 2025 Hofstra Dean's List selection and was named to the CAA Commissioner's and Hofstra Athletic Director Scholars Academic Honor Rolls.

Kang, a junior from Seoul, South Korea, has played 49 rounds in 19 events during his career at Hofstra. He ranks second on the team with a career average of 76.43 strokes per round. This past season he competed in nine events and averaged 75.88 stokes per round. He shot a career low round 69 during the first round of the Bucknell Invitational. A Hofstra Dean's List selection both semesters, Kang was also named to the CAA Commissioner's and Hofstra Athletic Director Scholars Academic Honor Rolls. Additionally, he earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators 2025 Academic All-District © At-Large team for his academic excellence.
