Pride Entertains Blue Hens On Saturday

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra women's lacrosse team will host Delaware on Saturday in the first game of a Hofstra lacrosse doubleheader from James M. Shuart Stadium. 

The game, the first of the doubleheader, will see the women host the Blue Hens at 12 p.m. before the men host Towson at 3 p.m.

Hofstra dropped its second consecutive overtime contest on Saturday as they were defeated 17-16 on the road at Monmouth. The loss dropped the Pride's record to 3-9 and 0-3 in league play. Katie Kelly led Hofstra with six points on five goals and one assist and Rachel Graff had five points on four goals and one assist. Taylor Mennella is first on the team this season with 36 points on 18 goals and 18 assists. 

Delaware is 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association after dropping a 13-12 overtime decision at William & Mary on Saturday. Riley Gillin had five points on two goals and three assists for the Blue Hens. Delaney McDaniel leads the team with 31 points on seven goals and 24 assists in 2023. 

Saturday will be the 34th all-time meeting between Hofstra and Delaware in women's lacrosse. The Blue Hens lead the series, 20-13, but the Pride has won the last two meetings in the series. Hofstra won 16-11 in Newark, Delaware, last year and 14-8 in 2019 in the two most recent encounters.
