Hofstra Opens 2023 Outdoor Track Season

| By:
Stanford, CA/Queens, NY – The 2023 season of outdoor track & field began for the Hofstra men's outdoor track & field team on opposite sides of the country, with competitors entered in the Stanford Invitational in California and The Big Hurt in New York.

Abraham Longosiwa represented the Pride in the 10,000m at the Stanford Invitational, and the freshman distance runner completed the race in a time of 29:33.33. Longosiwa's 10,000m performance in California gives him the second-fastest 10,000m time in Hofstra men's outdoor track history, besting the previous mark of 30:07.12 set by Meshack Kipchirchir at the 2018 Penn Relays.

At The Big Hurt in Queens, Hofstra had a number of entrants in running and field events. Nile Love led the way for the Pride field competitors with a first-place finish in the long jump, hitting a mark of 6.13m to finish .11m ahead of runner-up Theo Triadafillopulos from Farmingdale State. Love also finished ninth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.88, joining teammates Alec Padron (seventh, 11.74) and Adam Gordon (eighth, 11.83) in the top 10. Cade Jaipaul placed seventh in the 400m with a time of 56.71.

The Hofstra men return to competition at the Metropolitan Championships on April 8 from Icahn Stadium in New York, New York.
