Longosiwa Claims Third in 5000m at CAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

Virginia Beach, VA – In his first indoor championship race, and in the first indoor championship in conference history, freshman Abraham Longosiwa represented the Hofstra men's indoor track team on the podium with a third-place finish in the 5000m at the 2023 Colonial Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Championship from the Virginia Beach Sports Complex in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
 
The top-seed entering the event, Longosiwa led the men's 5000m for the majority of the race until the final home stretch, when he was overtaken by Stony Brook teammates Carlos Santos in first and Shane Henderson in second. Longosiwa finished the race with a time of 14:13.57, 2.34 seconds behind second-place Henderson and 4.29 seconds behind the winner Carlos.
 
Brian Beck also ran for the Pride in the 5000m, and he finished 16th with a time of 15:58.27. Hofstra also had Nile Love competing in the Long Jump, and Love finished 10th with a mark of 6.42m/21' 0.75".
 
Paul Markovina will take to the track on Thursday, February 23, in the second day of the CAA Indoor Track & Field Championship. Markovina will compete in the 3000m at 2:20 p.m.
