Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will head west this week as the Pride will face UNLV on Thursday.
Tip-off from the Thomas & Mack Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time.
The game will air on the Mountain West Network and WRHU (88.7 FM) will have an audio-only broadcast as well. Links to both, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.
Hofstra improved to 7-4 this season with a convincing 74-58 win over Norfolk State on Saturday afternoon.
Tyler Thomas led the Pride with 22 points, while
Jaquan Carlos had a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists.
Darlinstone Dubar and
Bryce Washington each added 13 points.
UNLV is 4-5 this season and most recently dropped a double overtime 69-67 decision to Saint Mary's on Saturday. The Runnin' Rebels recently defeated #8 Creighton, 79-64, on December 13. Dedan Thomas Jr. led UNLV with 24 points against the Gaels on Saturday.
This will be the second-ever meeting between Hofstra and UNLV in men's basketball and the first since December 30, 1992. The Runnin' Rebels won the initial meetings between the programs.
Interestingly enough, that game between Hofstra and UNLV featured two future Hofstra head coaches on the UNLV bench and a future Pride player as well. Both Jay Wright and Tom Pecora were members of Rollie Massimino's staff at UNLV and Lawrence Thomas was on that team as well. Thomas played two seasons for the Pride in 1995-96 and 1996-97.
