Hempstead, NY - The Colonial Athletic Association announced its preseason all-conference team today and a trio of Hofstra student-athletes were honored as graduate student
Corey Kale, senior
Mac Gates, and redshirt sophomore
Rory Jones each were named to the preseason All-CAA Honorable Mention Team.
Kale is in his fifth season as a member of the Pride and has played in 46 career games. Last season he had six goals, 42 ground balls, and seven caused turnovers. Kale was third on the team last season in ground balls. He was also selected as the Nick Colleluori Tribute Award recipient and will wear the prestigious #27 this season for the Pride.
Gates is also in his fifth season at Hofstra and has established himself in net for the Pride. He has played in 21 career games with 15 of those games occurring last season. An All-CAA Second Team selection a year ago, he was second in the CAA with a 10.98 goals against average and third in the CAA with 12.00 saves per game and a .523 save percentage.
It was a dynamic first year for Jones, who posted 20 goals, eight assists, along with 12 ground balls and three caused turnovers in his first year. A CAA All-Rookie Team pick and a two-time CAA Rookie of the Week honoree last season, Jones was third on the team in points, goals, and assists.
The conference also announced the preseason poll and the Pride was picked fifth in the conference.
Hofstra opens the 2023 campaign on Saturday (February 4) when it travels to Merrimack for a 1 p.m. contest.
