Hempstead, NY – The Colonial Athletic Association portion of the 2022 Hofstra field hockey schedule is set to begin on Friday (Sept. 30) with a 3 p.m. home game against Northeastern, followed by a Sunday (Oct. 2) non-conference contest at 1 p.m. versus Bryant.

A 3-0 home win over Sacred Heart last Friday pushed the Pride to 4-5 overall on the year. Cami Valor, Simryn Desai, and Sydney LeGuillow all found the back of the net against the Pioneers, while Cami Larsson picked up an assist in the second quarter, and Pieke Roos earned her first-career win with four saves. Roos' performance between the posts earned her the CAA Rookie of the Week nod on Monday.

Larsson's assist against Sacred Heart ups her points total to 10 with four goals and two assists. Teresa Karoff stands second the team with eight points from two goals and four assists, and Adrianna Losiak has two goals and two assists for six points to rank third on the squad. Merlijn van der Vegt leads the Pride with 35 saves in seven starts and nearly 407 minutes in goal.

Picked second in the CAA Field Hockey Preseason Poll, Northeastern is currently 1-7 following a 2-0 loss to Vermont last Sunday. A CAA Championship semifinalist in 2021, the Huskies are led by Mak Graves with four goals and two assists. 2021 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and NFHCA Third Team All-American Jonna Kennedy joined this summer from Boston College and has made 53 saves in eight starts between the pipes for Northeastern.

The Bulldogs of Bryant are currently 4-6 this season following conference losses to Vermont and California. Leading Bryant in scoring is 2021 All-NEC Second Team choice Brittany Gouws with six goals and three assists for 15 points, followed by Lotte Guitink with 12 points on five goals and two assists. The Bulldogs will face New Hampshire on Friday prior to Sunday's contest against Hofstra.

The all-time series record between Hofstra and Northeastern stands at 7-20 in favor of Northeastern, including last season's 5-0 win for the Huskies in the final game of the regular season. Against Bryant, the Pride is 2-1 all-time. The last time Hofstra squared off against Bryant was in 2019, a 3-2 shootout win for the Pride.

Following this weekend's doubleheader, the Pride will continue its CAA schedule on the road against Towson (3-6) on October 7 at 3 p.m.
