MLAX: Hofstra Faces First Road Test Against Villanova

Hempstead, NY - After a month of games from inside James M. Shuart Stadium, Hofstra will venture off Long Island for its first road contest of the 2022 season this Saturday, March 5, against Villanova.

The Pride is looking to keep the positive momentum going following a 12-6 win at home over St. John's this past Sunday in the consolation game of The Long Island Cup. Gerard Kane scored three goals against the Red Storm and Colton Rudd scored twice and assisted once for three points, and James Philbin had a pair of goals. Meanwhile, Mac Gates made 14 saves and Bryan McIntosh caused three turnovers as the Pride defense held St. John's scoreless in the entire second half. The win puts Hofstra at 3-2 through the first month of the season.

Villanova is coming off a 15-14 loss to Brown on Tuesday, putting them at 2-2 heading into Saturday's contest against Hofstra. The Wildcats are led offensively by Luke Keating, who has 20 points on the year with 10 goals and 10 assists, while Brett Baskin (11 G, 5 A) and Matt Campbell (9 G, 7 A) each have 16 points, and Patrick Daly leads the team in scoring with 13 goals.

The teams last met at Villanova Stadium on February 22, 2020, and the Wildcats edged the Pride for the 10-8 win. The all-time series is currently tied at 8-8.
