Stony Brook, NY – Graduate student
Morgan Serkes topped the field in the 1500m as the Hofstra women's track team kicked off the 2022 season at the Stony Brook Snowflake Classic today from Stony Brook University.
A graduate transfer from Siena College, Serkes ran a time of 4:47.39, placing her first in the field of 22 competitors in the event. In addition to Serkes, the Hofstra 4x100m relay 'B' team of
Florencia Wolkowyski,
Josie Fronczak,
Chiara Cucco, and
Zyare Abdul-Rahim placed first with a time of 56.94, beating out Hofstra's 'A' team of
Deandra Baker,
Rachel Lande,
Abby Briggs, and
Lauren Dietrich, who completed the race in 1:01.71.
Abdul-Rahim finished fourth for Hofstra in the 100m dash with a time of 14.14, and she was followed closely by Dietrich in fifth with a time of 14.22. Baker placed sixth in the 100m with a time of 14.26, while Lande ran a 14.97 race to take seventh, Cucco clocked in at 15.61 to take eighth,
Sarah Pierre placed ninth in a time of 15.71, and
Yagmur Cinel rounded out the top 10 with a time of 16.05.
The Hofstra women will return to action on April 2 in Princeton, New Jersey, at the Sam Howell Invitational. The event will be held at Weaver Stadium on the campus of Princeton University.
