Hempstead, NY - Hofstra senior Jess Smith earned her second Colonial Athletic Association weekly honor of the season today as she was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office this afternoon. 

Smith earned the award back on February 28 as well. 

Smith continued her excellent senior campaign as she powered the Pride to a pair of wins to extend the win streak to five games and give Hofstra a 6-1 record on the year. 

She started the week with nine saves in the 13-6 win over Wagner. 

On Friday she was tremendous once again as she made 13 saves and added six ground balls in the 16-9 victory over Marist. 

With her 13 saves in the game, Smith has five games this season with at least 10 saves and 23 games in her career with double-digit saves. Her ground ball total was a new career-high, eclipsing her previous career-best of four last achieved against Drexel on April 3, 2021. 

Smith has a GAA of 7.38 this season and a save percentage of .589. She has made 73 saves for the Pride.
