Zach Van Houten and
Jordyn McDonnell both hit personal and program bests as they and
Sophia Masciarelli represented the Hofstra indoor track team at the BU Last Chance Invite from the BU Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
Running in the 3000m, Van Houten completed the race in a time of 8:27.33, qualifying him for the event at the IC4A/ECAC Championship and breaking the program record for the fastest time in the 3000m by a Hofstra freshman previously held by Meshack Kipchirchir. Kipchirchi ran a time of 8:31.36 at the 2018 Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
McDonnell ran in the Mile and clocked in a time of 5:06.94. Her time was a new personal-best in the event, besting her previous mark of 5:10.22. Masciarelli also competed for Hofstra in the 5000m, and she ran a time of 18:17.40.
Van Houten will represent Hofstra in the 3000m and the 5000m at the IC4A/ECAC Championships on March 4-6 from the BU Track & Tennis Center.
