The highlight of the celebration will be the official unveiling of the renamed men's basketball locker room in honor of Coach Mihalich.
Mihalich engineered a masterful resurgence of the Pride during his tenure, revitalizing a program that was coming off a seven-win campaign and, in three years, turned it into a team with back-to-back 20-win seasons and consecutive postseason appearances. He captured 141 wins while at Hofstra and averaged more than 22 victories per season over his last five campaigns on the sidelines. In his seven seasons coaching the Pride, Mihalich posted four 20-win seasons, led the Pride to three regular season Colonial Athletic Association titles, earned four postseason appearances, and captured the 2019-20 CAA title.
Hofstra earned a 97-64 win over Elon on Tuesday to improve to 18-9 overall and 10-4 in Colonial Athletic Association action. Senior
Omar Silverio tallied a school and CAA record 11 three-pointers in the win over the Phoenix and finished with a career-best 40 points.
Northeastern is 7-18 and 1-13 in the league and most recently dropped a 67-51 decision at Drexel this past Saturday.
Hofstra leads the all-time series with Northeastern, 27-25. The series has been quite competitive over the last few years between two of the CAA heavyweights as the squads met in the conference championship game in both 2018-19 and 2019-20. The Pride has won 10 of the last 15 meetings between the teams. Northeastern won both meetings a season ago but Hofstra was victorious in all three contests in 2019-20.
