Hofstra Faces Stern Test At #4 Purdue On Wednesday

| By:
Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will travel to Purdue on Wednesday for a stern test as they take on the #4 Boilermakers.

Purdue is the highest ranked opponent Hofstra has faced since taking on #1 Villanova on December 22, 2017. The Pride's most recent game against a nationally-ranked opponent was an 89-81 win over #24 Arkansas on December 18, 2021. This will mark Hofstra's 13th game against a Power Five conference team in the Speedy Claxton era (since he joined the staff in 2013-14). During that time, the Pride has earned a trio of victories against Power Five schools (Arkansas, UCLA, and Florida State).

Tip-off from Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana, is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The game will air on BTN+ and WRHU will carry an audio only broadcast on the HAWC. Links to both, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.

The Pride is coming off an incredibly busy November that saw them play a total of nine games and travel nearly 8,000 miles. Hofstra picked up six wins during the month, the most-ever for the program in the month of November. The Pride has won two of its last three games, including a pair of wins in Canada, with its most recent game being a narrow overtime defeat at George Mason on November 30.

Purdue is currently 8-0 on the season and most recently defeated Minnesota, 89-70, on Sunday.

The Boilermakers have earned wins over Milwaukee, Austin Peay, Marquette, West Virginia, #6 Gonzaga, #8 Duke, Florida State, and the Golden Gophers this season.

Hofstra and Purdue have met once before in men's basketball with the Boilermakers winning that game back on November 11, 2012, in the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project. That contest was also played in West Lafayette. Hofstra's most recent game against a Big Ten Conference team came last season when they dropped a narrow two-point decision at Maryland. It is Hofstra's 16th game against a current member of the Big Ten.
