Hofstra Closes Out CAA Schedule at Drexel and Delaware

Hempstead, NY – The Colonial Athletic Association schedule comes to a close for Hofstra this weekend, with the Pride hitting the road to take on Drexel on Friday, October 21, and Delaware on Sunday, October 23.

Hofstra's game against Drexel will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, while Sunday's game against Delaware will begin at noon. Both games will be streamed live on FloLive, and live statistics will be available for both games as well. These links are available on this page and the schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra suffered defeat in a pair of CAA contests this past weekend, dropping its overall record to 6-8 and CAA record to 1-3 as the 2022 winds down. The Pride dropped a 2-0 contest to Monmouth on Friday, before falling 1-0 to #25 William & Mary this past Sunday. Merlijn van der Vegt combined for 11 saves in the two outings, giving them 288 saves for their career and moving them into 10th in the Hofstra field hockey record book for most saves in a career.

Drexel enters Friday 9-5 overall and 2-1 in the CAA following a 5-1 victory over Towson. Picked to finish fifth in the CAA Preseason Poll, the Dragons are led by returning All-CAA First Team selection Eline di Leva with seven goals and three assists. Mason Taylor ranks second on the team with four goals and four assists, and Avery Powell has five goals to her name.

The top pick in the CAA Preseason Coaches Poll, Delaware is currently 3-1 in the CAA and 5-10 overall. 2021 NFHCA Second Team All-American and CAA Defensive Player of the Year Julia Duffhuis leads the Fightin' Blue Hens with six goals and one assist for 13 points, while three-time NFHCA All-Region selection Ashlyn Carr is tied for third on the roster with nine points on two goals and five assists.

Hofstra is currently 17-24-1 all-time against Drexel, and 7-29 all-time against Delaware. The Pride suffered 3-2 defeats against both teams during the 2021 season.

Following this weekend's set of games, the Pride closes out the 2022 regular season against Rider on Sunday, October 30, at 1 p.m. Hofstra will honor its four departing seniors prior to the 1 p.m. start against the Broncs.
