Hofstra Unveils 2023 Schedule; Nine Games at Shuart Stadium

| By:
Hempstead, NY – Hofstra Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Seth Tierney and the Hofstra men's lacrosse team has announced its schedule for the 2023 season. The Pride will face 15 opponents this coming season, including nine home contests from James M. Shuart Stadium.

The Pride will play eight non-conference games and seven Colonial Athletic Association contests. A pair of home games highlight the non-conference portion of the schedule as Navy, coached by Hofstra alum Joe Amplo, visits on February 11, and perennial national power Syracuse comes to Shuart Stadium on March 14. It will mark the Pride's first game against Syracuse, as well as the Orange's first visit to Hempstead, since 2003. The Pride will also travel to the Midwest for a clash against Big Ten Conference contender Michigan on February 18.

The 2023 season opener will be a rematch of the 2022 season opener against Merrimack, with the Pride as the road team this time, on February 4. Hofstra opens James M. Shuart Stadium on February 11 against Navy at 2 p.m.. After its visit to The Great Lake State to take on Michigan, Hofstra stays on Long Island for its next set of games against LIU on February 21 at home and against St. John's on February 25 in Queens.

Hofstra will host all five of its March contests from James M. Shuart Stadium. Hofstra opens the homestand on March 4 against Villanova, followed by a March 11 clash against NJIT, and a March 14 night game versus Syracuse. Hofstra opens its Colonial Athletic Association schedule on March 18 against Fairfield, before closing out the month against defending CAA champions Delaware on March 25.

The Pride will hit the road for the first time since February 25 when they face off against CAA-newcomer Monmouth on April 1. Hofstra will briefly return to James M. Shuart Stadium on April 8 to host Towson, followed by consecutive road games against Drexel on April 15 and Hampton on April 22. Hofstra will honor its seniors on April 29 against local rival Stony Brook to conclude the 2023 regular season. The road game against Hampton will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs, and the regular season finale versus Stony Brook will be the Pride's first meeting against the Seawolves as conference foes.

The four-team CAA Championship will take place at the site of the regular season champion on May 4 and May 6.
