MTRK: Markovina Sets New Personal-Best at John Thomas Terrier Classic

Boston, MA - Running in his first race of 2022, Paul Markovina set a new personal-best time in the 3000m at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic Sunday night from the BU Track & Tennis Center.

A senior distance runner from Old Westbury, New York, Markovina finished fifth in his heat and 47th overall in the 3000m event with a time of 8:23.72. Sunday's time bested his previous personal-best of 8:32.04 from the 2020 Boston University Last Chance Qualifier.

Also making his professional debut was former Hofstra cross country/track great Alex Masai in the 3000m. A former All-American in cross country, indoor and outdoor track for the Pride, Masai finished fifth in the event with a time of 7:47.63 running for NAZ Elite.

Markovina and the Hofstra men's indoor track team will return to action on February 11. The Pride will send a split squad for that day, competing at the FastTrack National Invitational in Staten Island and the BU David Hemery Valentine Invite in Boston.
