RICHMOND, Va. – Junior outfielder Jaycee Ruberti of the Hofstra softball team has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week for the week ending March 21. It is the first time in her career that Ruberti has received the honor.

Ruberti had a huge week for Hofstra as the Pride went 5-0 in non-conference action. In all, she hit .500, recording a team-high nine hits (with two doubles) while tallying nine RBI with at least one in every game. She also accumulated a .550 on base percentage, scored four runs and went a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen bases.

To begin the week, the center fielder went 4-for-5 with four RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases in an 11-10 win over St. John's. In the first meeting vs. UMass Lowell, Ruberti went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with one RBI, one walk, and one stolen base. She then capped the week with a 1-for-3 performance that included a walk, two runs scored and two runs batted in during a 7-4 Pride victory over UMass Lowell.

In game one against UMass Lowell, Ruberti made a spectacular home run robbing catch over her opposite shoulder which eventually went on to preserve Hofstra's 5-0 shutout victory.

On the season, Ruberti is batting .406 and leads Hofstra with 13 RBI and ranks second on the team with 13 hits.

Ruberti is the third Hofstra player to earn a weekly accolade from the CAA this season. Meghan Giordano and Chelsea Manto were named the league's Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, on March 9.

The Hofstra softball team is back in action for a three-game set at Delaware this weekend. Hofstra will play a doubleheader on Saturday (12 p.m.) before turning around for a single-game on Sunday (12 p.m.)
