WLAX: Hofstra Hosts #6 Boston College On Saturday

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra women's lacrosse will have a stiff test this weekend when it hosts #6 Boston College on Saturday. 

First draw control from James M. Shuart Stadium is scheduled for 12 p.m.

Hofstra is 3-1 after earning a 12-9 win over Villanova on Saturday. It marks the Pride's third straight season opening up with at least a 3-1 record. Senior Alyssa Parrella has 22 goals and four assists for 26 points. She leads the team in goals and points and is tied for the team lead in assists with graduate student Alexa Mattera and junior Grace Langella. Graduate student Darcie Smith has 14 ground balls, 15 draw controls, and five caused turnovers. She leads the team in ground balls and is tied for the team lead in draw controls and caused turnovers with Mattera. 

Parrella is closing in on the all-time Colonial Athletic Association scoring mark. She currently has 318 career points to rank second all-time in CAA history, trailing only Suzanne Wosczyna, who had 325 points for Old Dominion from 2001-04. 

Boston College is 4-1 this season and most recently earned a 20-11 win over Virginia on March 13. Charlotte North leads the Eagles with 28 points on 24 goals and four assists. North also has a team-high 37 draw controls, while Rachel Hall leads the way with 11 ground balls and Jillian Reilly and Annie Walsh both have five caused turnovers. 

Hofstra is 3-14 all-time against Boston College. The Pride dropped a 20-10 decision to the Eagles in the 2020 season finale.
