WSOC: Hofstra Knocks off Boston College in Double Overtime

Box Score BETHANY, CT – Senior Lucy Porter took a pass from freshman Julie Lind late in the contest as the Hofstra University women's soccer team took down Boston College, 2-1 in double overtime at CFC Park on Sunday evening.
 
Porter scored both goals on a header for the Pride, and it was her third multi-goal performance out of the last four.
 
The first half went scoreless before Hofstra found the back of the net off a corner kick when senior Sabrina Bryan passed it short to junior Miri Taylor who found Porter to break the scoreless tie. The Eagles had the answer shortly after to level the match at one.
 
Porter found the back of the net to secure the victory when senior Amanda Ebbesson passed the ball out wide to freshman Julie Lind who connected with Porter for the win.
 
Hofstra is set to open up Colonial Athletic Association action on Sunday, March 21 against Northeastern. Kick-off from the Hofstra Soccer Stadium is set for 1 p.m. This event is closed to the public. No tickets will be sold. Live stats and video will be available on GoHofstra.com free of charge.
 
NOTES:
-Hofstra is now 2-4 all-time against Boston College and the Pride has won the last two meetings against the Eagles. The last time that Hofstra faced Boston College was in the 2018 NCAA Tournament when the Pride defeated the No. 22 ranked Eagles, 4-1.
-Hofstra hast not lost an overtime or double overtime match since Sept. 10, 2017. Hofstra is 5-0-4 in its last nine matches going in to extra time since Sept. 10, 2017. The last time that Hofstra lost in overtime or double overtime was against Yale on Sept. 4, 2017.
-Sabrina Bryan has recorded at least one assist in four-straight games
-Lucy Porter now has 37 career goals and moves into fourth in program history in that category, surpassing Suzanne Newell who had 36 from 1994-97. Porter also inches closer to third in program in history in points (88), and she needs one more to tie with Newell who had 89.
-Bryan is now tied for sixth in program history in points (80) and tied for fifth in total assists (22). She needs three more points to tie for fifth and one more assist to tie for third.
-Bryan has scored at least one point in 15 of her last 16 matches
