Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra field hockey team will look to put a pair of CAA losses behind them as they welcome No. 21 Delaware on Friday before hosting Drexel on Sunday. Friday's game is set for a 3 p.m. start, while Sunday's action will begin at 1 p.m.

Hofstra (5-7, 0-2 CAA) opened its conference schedule this past weekend with a thrilling 3-2 shootout loss against William & Mary on October 1 before falling 5-1 to James Madison on October 3.
Mercedes Currie scored in both games for the Pride, and
Merlijn van der Vegt posted 14 saves against both opponents. Freshman
Simryn Desai assisted on both of Hofstra's goals against the Tribe on Friday.

Currie continues her fine junior season, leading the team with six goals and 12 points, while newcomer
Eline Oldeman has been equally productive with four goals and two assists. In goal, van der Vegt has continued to prove themself as one of the top shot-stoppers in the conference, standing second in goals against average (1.76) while ranking third in saves (65) and saves per game (5.42).

Ranked No. 21 in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, Delaware (5-6, 1-0 CAA) enters Friday following a double overtime win over No. 9 Saint Joseph's and a CAA-opening win against Towson. Reigning CAA Rookie of the Year Julia Duffhuis leads the two-time defending CAA champions in scoring with 17 points on eight goals and one assist, while Ashlyn Carr tops the country in assists and assists per game with nine and 0.82, respectively.

Drexel (4-8, 1-0 CAA) will face the Pride following a Friday road contest against Northeastern. With 30 goals scored in 12 games and 2.50 goals scored per game, the Dragons sport one of the top offenses in the conference. Leading the way for Drexel this season are dynamic forwards Avery Powell and Eline Di Leva, as the two have five goals and four assists each on the year, while Isabel Jacobs ranks among the top 10 in the country with seven assists.

Hofstra is 7-28 all-time against Delaware, including last season's 4-2 defeat in Newark to conclude the 2020 spring season. Meanwhile, Hofstra's all-time mark against Drexel stands at 17-23-1 following two contests against the Dragons last season; the Pride were beaten 2-1 in a road conference game before winning 5-2 at home over two weeks later in non-conference action.
