Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University field hockey student-athlete
Kelly Levengood was named a recipient of the CAA Leadership And Sport Excellence Award for the sport of field hockey, the league office announced today.
The award mimics the Chuck Boone Leadership Award in football and the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award in men's and women's basketball. One student-athlete, who represents the highest standards of teamwork, integrity, leadership, and sportsmanship in his or her academic and athletic achievements, was selected in each of the other sports sponsored by the Conference. Nominees must be at the junior, senior or graduate academic level.
A junior, Levengood holds a cumulative GPA of 3.86 as a bioengineering major. She has been a member of the Provost's List, Dean's List, and the Athletic Director's Scholars Academic Honor Roll, as well as the NFHCA National Academic Squad and CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in multiple semesters. Levengood served on the Hofstra SAAC Executive Board as the Pride Cup Coordinator, and she has participated in numerous community service projects involving children with disabilities. On the field, Levengood started all 18 games for the Pride and finished third on the team with eight points on four goals.
