Joseph Giamanco tied for sixth place and Hofstra placed seventh as a team at the Nassau Invitational hosted by Long Island University at Nassau Country Club Monday afternoon. The event, which was scheduled for 54-holes, was shortened to 36 due to an expected storm on Tuesday.
Giamanco opened his day with a 76 (+6) before rebounding with a 71 (+1) to finish with a 147 (+7) to finish in a four-way tie for sixth in the 48-player field. Giamanco had 12 pars and three birdies in his second round as the freshman posted his top finish of the season. The 71 was also a season-best score.
Vincent Apostolico was Hofstra's next finisher, tying for 35th with a 159 (+19). The freshman opened with an 84 (+14) before posting a 75 (+5) in round two.
Mack Giles tied for 37th at 160 (+20) with rounds of 78 (+8) and 82 (+12).
Jaxon Hummel was 41st at 165 (+25) after shooting a 79 (+9) and an 86 (+16).
Mayaank Gally tied for 43rd with a 168 (+28) with scores of 89 (+19) and 79 (+9).
Will Freeman, playing as an individual entrant, was 47th at 171 (+31) following rounds of 84 (+14) and 87 (+17).
Hofstra finished seventh out of eight teams, shooting a two-round 624 (+64). The Pride had rounds of 317 (+37) and 307 (+27) to finish five strokes ahead of Saint Peter's. LIU won the team title at 595 (+35), winning a tiebreaker with St. John's based on a better second round score (294-295).
Andre Kleppe of LIU was the individual medalist, posting a score of 142 (+2). Peicheng Chen (St. John's) and Nikita Romanov (La Salle) tied for second at 144 (+4).
Hofstra returns to action Sunday through Tuesday at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate hosted by Wagner at the Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, New Jersey.
