MBB: Farrelly Named One Of The Top Assistants In The CAA

7/17/2020 11:17:00 AM

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach Mike Farrelly was named one of the top assistant coaches in the Colonial Athletic Association by his coaching peers, it was announced on Thursday.

Jeff Goodman of Stadium published the story with Farrelly coming in at number two in the conference.

Farrelly just completed his seventh season at Hofstra in 2019-20. He spent his first six years on staff as an assistant coach before being promoted to associate head coach in 2019.

The 2019-20 season saw Hofstra have another magical year as the Pride won 26 games and captured its second straight outright Colonial Athletic Association regular season title. Hofstra would go on to win the CAA championship and earn the program's first NCAA Tournament berth since 2001. The Pride became only the sixth team in conference history (since 1982-83) to win back-to-back outright conference regular season titles.

In May 2020, Farrelly was named one of 50 Impactful Mid Major Assistants by Silver Waves Media and he recently took part in the 2020 TopConnect Virtual Seminar, which identifies the top basketball assistant coaches in the country, and connects them with mid-major Athletic Directors providing tremendous networking opportunities for both parties.
