Hempstead, NY - Hofstra senior Desure Buie was named the Met Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week, it was announced today. 

It is Buie's second MBWA honor of the year after previously earning the award on February 4. 

The designations, for games played Feb. 17-23, are unique in that they encompass players from 71 Met area schools across Divisions I, II and III.
 
A 5-11 senior guard from the Bronx, NY, Buie --- who was named Colonial Athletic Association player of the week for the fourth time this season --- averaged 26.5 points, 7.5 assists and 3.0 steals in helping the Pride (22-7) extend its win streak to eight games with a pair of road victories. Hofstra also has won a nation's best 11 away games this year.
 
Posting game-high scoring totals in both contests, Buie got his week started with 26 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals in an 81-74 triumph over Drexel. He followed in a 78-62 victory at Delaware with 27 points, nine assists, six rebounds and three steals.
