Pride Travels To Monmouth For Saturday CAA Matchup

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will make the short trek to New Jersey on Saturday when the Pride takes on Monmouth in a CAA contest. 

Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. from the OceanFirst Bank Center.

Hofstra dropped a 66-64 decision to Charleston at home on Thursday. Biggie Patterson had his second double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds in the contest, while Preston Edmead added 18 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists for the Pride. The Pride brings a 13-9 overall record and a CAA record of 4-5 into Saturday's game. 

Monmouth is 11-11 overall and 5-4 in the league. The Hawks earned an 83-81 overtime win over North Carolina A&T on Thursday as Corey Miller's near midcourt shot at the buzzer won it. Jason Rivera-Torres had 23 points and nine rebounds, while Stefanos Spartalis added 21 for the Hawks.  

Saturday is the 19th all-time meeting between Hofstra and Monmouth. The series is knotted at 9-9. The Pride won this season's earlier meeting, 67-64, in overtime back on January 10 in Hempstead behind a career-high 24 points from Edmead. Hofstra has won eight of the last 11 meetings against Monmouth.
