SB: Hofstra Announces Three to National Letters of Intent

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Head softball coach Jay Miller announced the signing of three players to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday. Joining the Hofstra softball Class of 2025 is Jessica Greene, Gianna Iaquinto, and Haley Venturini.
 
"I'm extremely excited to have Jessica, Gianna and Haley kick off our 2025 recruiting class," said Miller. "They will add a lot of diversity to our lineup and will make us stronger as a team. They also excel in the classroom, which is very important to our program. I am looking forward to having them on campus next fall."
 
Jessica Greene | IF | Stratford, OntarioJess Greene
 
Greene is an infielder from Stratford, Ontario and attends the Kent School in Connecticut. She was voted a team captain in her first year at Kent as a sophomore and went on to receive Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2018 and 2019. As a sophomore, Greene batted .568 and recorded 25 hits, 18 RBI, and 25 runs scored to go along with a .694 on base percentage. Academically, she received the Principal's Merit Award for Learning Skills Excellence, a Certificate of Academic Achievement, and was featured on the honor roll all throughout middle and high school.
 
At Hofstra, Greene plans on majoring in Forensics with a minor in Criminology.
 

Haley Venturini | P | North Scituate, R.I.Haley Venturini
 
Venturini is a pitcher who comes to Hofstra from North Scituate, R.I. She attends Scituate High School and has put together a very impressive career for the Spartans thus far. During the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Venturini has combined for a 32-7 record with 569 strikeouts. Venturini's ERA has been impressive through her first two seasons, as she fired a 0.38 ERA in 2019 and 0.80 ERA in 2018. In addition, batters hit .077 against Venturini as a sophomore and .101 as a freshman. Her high school pitching career also includes six no-hitters and one perfect game to this date. At the plate during her sophomore year, she owned a .431 batting average with four home runs and a .708 slugging percentage entering the postseason.
 
Venturini collected several awards for her performances during the 2019 season, highlighted by Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year honors. In addition, she was named to the Rhode Island Interscholastic League First Team All-Division and All-State both as a freshman and sophomore, and earned both First (sophomore) and Second (junior) Team Providence Journal honors. In 2020, she was named her teams most valuable player and was tabbed Rhode Island's best softball player by MaxPreps.
 
Academically, Venturini is a member of the National Honor Society. She plans on majoring in Education at Hofstra.
 

Gianna Iaquinto | IF | Danbury, Conn. Gianna Iaquinto
 
Iaquinto is an infielder from Danbury, Conn. A member of the varsity team for four years, Iaquinto started off her career on a high note, batting .379 as a freshman to go along with a .431 on base percentage and .625 slugging percentage. For her efforts, she was named to the All-FCIAC First Team and was named the Ruden Report Player of the Week once. As a sophomore, Iaquinto was named one of the top-20 players to watch in Connecticut.
 
In the classroom, Iaquinto has earned both high honors and distinguished honors.
 
At Hofstra, Iaquinto plans on majoring in History and Psychology with a minor in Criminology.
