Hofstra is 2-4 on the season and the winner in their last two outings including a 3-2 home victory over Quinnipiac this past Monday. Pride senior
Madison Warfel tallied a career-high two goals and sophomore
Cami Larsson converted her second penalty stroke of the year to give Hofstra the victory. Freshman goalie
Merlijn van der Vegt recorded 10 saves including five in the second half to secure the win.
Â
The Pride posted a 3-1 victory over the Pioneers of Sacred Heart at home on Wednesday, September 11 to starting the winning streak. Freshman
Mercedes Currie, junior

Ming Doherty tallied goals for the Pride while van der Vegt tallied five saves to post the victory.
Â
In addition to the win over Sacred Heart, the Pride has losses to Wagner (3-0), 17th-ranked Saint Joseph's (9-1), Monmouth (6-0), and Vermont (1-0). Van der Vegt, who missed the first two games of the season with an injury, started the past four games and has been outstanding. The Dutch newcomer now has a 2.92 goals against average, 34 saves, and a .750 save percentage in her four outings.
Â
The Bulldogs of Bryant are 0-5 on the season and have yet to tally a goal this season. Bryant is coming off a 6-0 loss at Drexel last Sunday. Jaarsma has a 2.69 goals against average with 30 saves in five games in 2019.
Friday's game against Bryant will be the third contest in the all-time series with each team winning once. The Pride recorded a 3-2 decision over the Bulldogs in 2009 before Bryant repaid the favor last season.
Â
The Bears of Brown are 1-4 on the year heading into their Saturday home contest against Albany, before the Pride, and are on a four-game losing skid after a season-opening win over Bryant. Brown is coming off a 4-2 loss at New Hampshire last Sunday. The Bears are led by senior Gina Openshaw with three goals while freshman goalie Allee Ayles has a 3.15 goals against average with 23 saves and a .622 save percentage in five games this year.
Â
Sunday's contest is the 11
th meeting between Hofstra and Brown with each team winning five times. It will be the first meeting since a 2-1 Hofstra victory in 2003. Brown's last victory in the series came during the 2000 season with the Bears winning, 4-1.
Â
After the Brown game, Hofstra will return home on Sunday, September 29 when the Pride face the Bulldogs of Yale University at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium. Game time is noon.
