Hempstead, NY - Hofstra Volleyball Head Coach
Emily Mansur announced today that she has added
Steve Klosterman and
Nanishka Perez to her coaching staff. The duo joins
Brian Toron as assistant coaches with the Pride.
"Steve and Nanishka are great additions to our staff," commented Mansur. "Both will play pivotal roles as we look to continue to develop the Hofstra Volleyball program into a nationally-recognized team. I'm thrilled with the group we have assembled this season on staff and I know that Brian, Steve and Nanishka will assist in the development of our student-athletes."
Klosterman is one of the most decorated players in the history of UCLA Volleyball.
Klosterman has extensive club volleyball coaching experience, most recently serving as a lead technical coach and trainer for the Chicago Bounce Volleyball Club. Since 2013, he has also worked with the Huntington Beach Volleyball Club as both a head coach and assistant coach. While at HBC he coached Josh Tuiniga and TJ DeFalco, both of whom recently captured AVCA Player of the Year honors and earned national titles at Long Beach State.
This will not be Klosterman's first collegiate coaching experience either as he previously worked as a volunteer assistant coach with the Loyola Chicago women's team and UCLA men's team.
Klosterman was a two-time All-American at UCLA during a career which spanned from 2003 to 2007. The MVP of the 2006 National Championship that UCLA captured, Klosterman holds the program's rally scoring-era record for kills with 1,513.
Klosterman played professionally from 2007 to 2014 in Puerto Rico, France, Finland, Egypt, Qatar, Vietnam and Czech Republic.
Perez concluded her playing career at Hofstra in 2018 and was one of the Pride's most consistent players during her tenure in Hempstead as a student-athlete.
Perez played in 445 sets in 124 matches during her career and posted 828 kills, 916 digs, 157 blocks, 111 service aces and 79 assists.
In her final season, she posted 207 digs and 186 kills in helping Hofstra to both the regular season and postseason Colonial Athletic Association titles and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. She was one of the main reasons the Pride was able to capture the CAA title as she earned CAA Championship All-Tournament honors after totaling 18 kills and 27 digs, including a double-double of 10 kills and 14 digs in the championship match.
She posted career-highs of 20 kills against Florida Gulf Coast in 2015, 21 digs versus LIU Brooklyn in 2017, six blocks versus Northeastern in 2015, five service aces at Delaware in 2017 and four assists versus CSUN in 2016.
Perez earned her BS in community health from Hofstra in 2019.
