Hempstead, NY - Hofstra senior Beatriz Braga was named the CAA Preseason Player of the Year, it was announced by the conference office this afternoon. 

In addition, Braga and junior Constanza Perez Sain both earned spots on the Preseason All-CAA Team. As a team, Hofstra was picked second in the preseason poll and garnered four first place votes. 

Braga earns the league's highest preseason honor after being named to the All-CAA First Team following the 2025 campaign. She was also a CAA All-Rookie Team selection in 2023. 

Perez Sain previously earned CAA All-Rookie Team accolades following the 2024 season. 

Braga had a tremendous 2025 season as she totaled 349 kills, 203 digs, 41 blocks, 15 service aces, and 13 assists. In her career she has 697 kills and 529 digs. She ranked second on the team in kills and fourth in both digs and service aces a year ago. 

Perez Sain amassed 207 kills, 81 digs, 76 blocks, 31 service aces, seven assists a season ago. For her career she has 467 kills, 158 digs, 133 blocks, and 76 service aces. Perez Sain was fourth on the team in kills, second in service aces, and third in blocks last season. 

The Pride was picked second behind Charleston and was followed by Towson, North Carolina A&T, Campbell, Stony Brook, Northeastern, William & Mary, Elon, UNCW, and Hampton. 

Hofstra opens the 2026 campaign on Saturday, August 29 when it faces High Point at the 2026 Penn State Invitational. That match will begin at 11:30 a.m. The Pride will also face Connecticut and #10 Penn State in the tournament.
