West Point, NY – The first weekend of Hofstra Indoor track came to a close Saturday afternoon as the Pride women competed in the Army West Point Crowell Open at the Gillis Field House on the grounds of the United States Military Academy.
The 60m dash was the most entered event for Pride runners as 11 Hofstra student-athletes competed in the preliminaries. Senior Sarah El Bouzaidi placed 20th in 8.92 with freshman
Jordyn McDonnell placing 24th in 9.43. Freshman Brooklyn Samuels placed 27th in 9.68, sophomore
Abby Briggs was 28th in 9.69 while classmate
Alex Cianciolo was 29th in 9.70. Freshman April Sanchez was 32nd in 10.03, sophomore
Megan Boese was 33rd in 10.14, freshman
Kayla Stadeker was 34th in 10.49, classmates Alexandra Conroy was 35th in 10:50 and
Leah Gath was 36th in 11.87, and sophomore
Sophia Masciarelli was 37th in 12.57.
Three Hofstra runners competed in the 400m dash as junior
Alyssa Suits finished 10th in 1:15.01, and sophomores
Caroline Czerwonka (1:15.62) and
Grace Giannatsis (1:17.26) placed 11th and 12th, respectively.

Catherine Matteo was the lone Pride entry in the one-mile run and placed fifth in 6:22.44.
The Pride will return to action on Friday, January 24 when they compete in the Dr. Sander Invitational at the New York City Armory.
