INSIDE THE SERIES
Hofstra leads the all-time series against Sacred Heart, 3-1. The series dates back to the 2004-05 season when Hofstra won, 67-66, and the last time the teams met was last season when Sacred Heart won at the David S. Mack Sports & Exhibition Complex, 70-64.
A WIN OVER SACRED HEART WOULD…
- Give Hofstra its second win of the season and be fourth time in the last five seasons that Hofstra started off 2-0
- Be the 716th known victory in the history of Hofstra women's basketball and 472nd at the NCAA Division I level.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
The Pioneers have a bit of a new look this year as Sacred Heart lost five players to graduation last season, three of which who were All-NEC honorees last year. With seven fresh faces to lead the program (five first-years, two transfers), Sacred Heart will leave on veterans such as Allyson Murphy, Olivia Dabney and Nikki Johnson. In Sacred Heart's season opener, Johnson scored a career-high 25 points to go along with a career-high five steals, five rebounds and four assists, however the Pioneers fell to Seton Hall by a score of 95-69.
SCOUTING THE PRIDE
Hofstra is coming off a 43-41 season-opening victory at the University of Hartford on Wednesday. The Pride got a team-high 12 points from sophomore
JaKayla Brown who also added six rebounds. In addition, redshirt sophomore
Jaylen Hines also finished in double figures with 10 points and seven rebounds, and freshman
Sorelle Ineza rounded out the top-three scorers with eight points, three rebounds and two assists. Hofstra had an excellent rebounding performance against the Hawks, corralling 48 total rebounds which was the most since November 30 of the 2017-18 season. Of those 48 rebounds, 23 were on the offensive end which were the most since the 2016-17 season.

The Pride will open up its season at home on Wednesday, November 13 against Stony Brook for the Long Island Rivalry presented by the Greene Turtle. Tip-off at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is set for 7 p.m.
