Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Women's Cross Country team returns to action this Saturday, November 2 when the Pride travel to Virginia for the 2019 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Championship at the New Market Battlefield Course. The women's 6K race begins at 11 a.m.

Hofstra is coming off a third-place finish at the 5K Brown University Rothenberg Run at Goddard State Park in Warwick, Rhose Island on October 18. Pride freshman
Jordyn McDonnell placed fourth and sophomore
Sophia Masciarelli finished fifth to lead the Hofstra. McDonnell posted a time of 18:16.1 to lead the Pride for the second straight meet this season. Masciarelli finished three seconds behind at 18:19.1 to take fifth. Freshman
Leah Gath was Hofstra's third finisher, placing 16
th in 19:28.2. Classmate
Kayla Stadeker placed 22
nd in 21:15.3 while junior
Megan Boese was 23
rd in 21:26.6. The Pride finished with 60 points as Brown, behind meet champion, junior Samantha Valentine and her winning time of 17:17.2, edged second-place Rhode Island, 34-35.
At last year's CAA Championship hosted by Hofstra at Bethpage State Park, William and Mary returned to the top of the CAA by placing all five of their scoring runners in the top 30 and finishing with 63 points. Elon was close behind with 65 points as the Phoenix had five runners in the top 25. Delaware was third with 85 points, Northeastern was fourth with 102 points and James Madison was fifth with 111 points. Towson placed sixth with 151 points, College of Charleston was seventh with 168 points, Hofstra was eighth with 205 points and UNCW was ninth with 253 points.
Masciarelli placed 13
th in a 2018 season-best 6K time of 21:50 to top her previous best of 22:50 at the Princeton Invitational. She finished one place out of earning All-CAA honors and 37 seconds behind conference champion Coralea Geraniotis from Elon. Senior
Felicia Banda finished in 19
th place in 21:59 and recorded the best 6K time of her career. Boese was the Pride's third finisher, clocking a career-best time of 25:08.9 to place 76
th. Freshman
Sara Leavens posted a time of 25:54 to finish in 80
th place while senior
Alli Bacher was 81
st in 25:55.7.
