FH: Hofstra Hosts Fairfield And Travels To Columbia This Week

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Field Hockey Team returns to action with two games this week. The Pride will host the Stags of Fairfield University at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium on Wednesday, September 12 at 3 p.m. before traveling into Manhattan to face the Columbia Lions on Saturday, September 15 at noon at the Columbia Field Hockey Stadium.
 
Hofstra will provide live stats through HofstraStats.com while Columbia will provide live stats through Sidearm Stats and will video stream the contest through ESPN+.
 
Hofstra enters the week with a 1-5 record after dropping a 3-1 decision at Yale last Friday and a 1-0 decision to Bryant in Hempstead on Sunday. The Pride has dropped five consecutive contests. At Yale, Pride freshman Cami Larsson scored her second goal of the year but the Bulldogs scored three goals in the last 35:35 to take the victory. On Sunday against Bryant, the Pride outshot the Bulldogs, 24-5 and had 17 penalty corners but could not score in the 1-0 loss.
 
In addition to Larsson's two goals, sophomore Hannah Zemaitis has one goal for the Pride. Hofstra's Dutch freshman goalie Betty Bosma has 53 saves in six games this season and leads the CAA and is fourth in the nation in saves per game.

Fairfield is 5-1 on the season and have won their last three games including 3-1 decision at Vermont on Sunday. Fairfield has tallied 16 goals and allowed eight with their only blemish on their record being a 4-1 loss at Drexel. The Stags are led by Danielle Profita with three goals and two assists while goalie Zoe Rosen has a 1.37 goals against average, a .786 save percentage and has been the goalie of record in all six contests. Wednesday's Hofstra-Fairfield game is the 36th in the all-time series with the Pride holding a 29-6 advantage. Fairfield won last year's encounter, 2-0 in Connecticut.
 
Columbia will enter Saturday's Hofstra game with a 2-2 record and having won two of their last three contests including a 1-0 win at Holy Cross on Sunday. The Lions are led by Danielle Buttinger with two goals and two assists and Katie Koester with two goals. Goalie Katie Dempsey has a 1.91 goals against average and a .724 save percentage while playing every minute of all four games. Saturday's game will be the 21st meeting between Hofstra and Columbia with the Pride holding an 11-9 series advantage.
 
Following the Columbia contest, the Pride will travel to New Haven, Connecticut again for a game against Sacred Heart at Yale on Tuesday, September 18 at noon.
