Hempstead, NY - Five former Hofstra Women's Lacrosse student-athletes have continued to excel on the field as they are playing professionally in one of the two professional women's lacrosse leagues.

Three of the players played in the Women's Professional Lacrosse League as Kelsey Gregerson ('15) and Lindsay Scott ('16) were members of the New York Fight, while Katie Hertsch ('11) played for the New England Command. In addition, Hofstra Head Coach Shannon Smith was the head coach of the Fight and was assisted on the sidelines by Pride Assistant Coach Torin Varn. Newly-named Hofstra Assistant Coach Amanda Johansen played for the Baltimore Brave of the WPLL.

The United Women's Lacrosse League has a pair of former Pride players involved as Brittain Altomare ('15) is a member of the Baltimore Ride, while April Iannetta ('15) is playing for the Philadelphia Force.

Hertsch and the Command won the first-ever WPLL title on July 14 with a 12-11 victory over the Brave.

The semifinals of the UWLX will be held on July 30 with the championship game being played on August 4.
