MBB: Hofstra Announces Addition Of Purdue Transfer Jacquil Taylor

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Men's Basketball Coach Joe Mihalich announced the addition of Jacquil Taylor, a transfer from Purdue University.

"We are ecstatic to add Jacquil to our program," commented Mihalich. "Jacquil is an outstanding young man who will be a great addition to the Hofstra community both on and off the court. His size and ability around the basket will certainly be an asset to our team next year."

Taylor, a native of Cambridge, Massachusetts, spent four seasons with the Boilermakers and will be eligible immediately for the Pride.

A 6-10 forward, Taylor appeared in 38 games for Purdue during his career including 19 during the 2017-18 season. He scored 35 points and had 26 rebounds over the course of the year and played in all three of the Boilermakers NCAA Tournament games, including 15 minutes against Texas Tech in the Sweet 16.

One of the nation's top recruits by ESPN and Rivals coming out of Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, Taylor garnered a slew of awards as a senior in high school including Eastern Independent League MVP, team MVP and his third-straight Boston Globe All-Scholastic Team. He also led his squad to the NEPSAC Class B title after averaging 14.4 points, 10.8 rebounds and three blocked shots per game.
