West Long Branch, NY – Hofstra racked up a season-high 14 runs in defeating Monmouth, 14-6, Tuesday afternoon at the MU Baseball Field. Mikey Riesner (3), Austin Gauthier, Vito Friscia and Parker Quinn (2) each had multi-hit games.

The Pride moved to 11-6 on the season, while Monmouth fell to 5-14.

Hofstra wasted no time as Steven Foster led off the game with a walk and moved to third on a double from Gauthier. Friscia followed with an RBI groundout to make it 1-0 in favor of the Pride. Teddy Cillis doubled home Gauthier and then came in on a run-scoring single from Riesner for a 3-0 Pride lead.

But Monmouth stormed back in the bottom of the first with three runs of its own, all coming on a home run from Pete Papcun following back-to-back walks to start the inning.

The Pride put up another three runs in the second, two coming on Gauthier's second double of the game and an RBI single from Friscia, to take a 6-3 lead.  Monmouth got two runs back in the third before the Pride tacked on an additional run in the fifth as Riesner came in from third on a double steal attempt that resulted in an out at second base.

After the Hawks pulled within one, 7-6, in the seventh on Papcun's second home run of the day, the Pride responded with a six-run eighth to pull away. Hofstra sent 10 men to the plate with Friscia, Vinnie Costello and Quinn picking up two RBIs each.
