MBB: Hofstra To Face UNCW In CAA Quarterfinals

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will open play at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship with a quarterfinal match-up against UNCW. 

Tip-off from the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, South Carolina, is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on Sunday evening. The entire tournament will be played at the North Charleston Coliseum. 

There will be CAA.tv live video and Pride Productions live audio (provided by WRHU, 88.7 FM) of the game as well as live statistics. Links to all three can be found on this page as well as the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. The game will also air locally on WRHU (88.7 FM). 

Hofstra brings a 19-11 overall record into the tournament and finished the regular season with a 12-6 CAA mark. In addition, the Pride is playing its best basketball of the season entering postseason play sporting a four-game win streak. 

Junior Justin Wright-Foreman leads the Pride in scoring at 24.2 per contest and is joined in double figures by sophomore Eli Pemberton (16.3) and senior Rokas Gustys (10.5). Gustys is tops on the team with 12.1 rebounds per outing, while junior Desure Buie leads Hofstra with 3.4 assists per game. 

UNCW is 10-20 overall and put together a 7-11 conference record this season. The Seahawks enter March following a win over Drexel in their regular season finale on February 24. 

Devontae Cacok leads UNCW in both scoring and rebounding with averages of 17.8 and 13.8, respectively. Jordan Talley, who ranks second on the team with 16.6 points per game, leads the Seahawks with 5.8 assists per game. 

Sunday's game will be the 40th all-time meeting between Hofstra and UNCW, with the Seahawks leading 20-19. All of the meetings have occurred since Hofstra joined the CAA beginning with the 2001-02 campaign. UNCW had won three straight meetings in the series, prior to Hofstra's 96-76 victory in Hempstead on February 1. The teams split the two meetings this season with the Seahawks winning, 90-70, in Wilmington on February 10.
