Hempstead, NY –Pride senior
Madison Sauve scored two goals in the first half but the Huskies tallied three second half goals to break a 2-2 halftime deadlock as Northeastern defeated Hofstra, 5-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association contest at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium Friday afternoon.
The Pride is 1-2 in the CAA and 3-11 overall while the Huskies are now 2-1 in conference play and 4-8 on the season.
Sauve scored two of the first three goals in the contest including the first of the game just 3:08 in on a tip-in off a
Cami Larsson shot. Northeastern's Kellie Stigas scored off a penalty corner just 3:29 later to tie the game at 1-1. Sauve's second goal came in the 23
rd minute on a backhander off a pass from
Hannah Zemaitis. But the Huskies responded with a goal by Laura MacLachlan less than five minutes later off a rebound.
The second half was all Northeastern as the Huskies received goals from Camille O'Conor, Jamie Chebuske and Lexie Dunleavy in an eight-minute span to roll to victory. Hofstra freshman goalie
Betty Bosma recorded 12 saves, stopping six in each half.
Hofstra returns to action on Sunday, October 14 when the Pride host the Blackbirds of LIU Brooklyn at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium. Game time is noon.

- Friday's game was the 24
th contest in the all-time series between Hofstra and Northeastern. The Huskies hold an 18-6 series lead.
- Sauve entered the game with one goal on the season after scoring 10 in 2017.
- Northeastern tallied a season-high 18 penalty corners including 11 in the first half. It was the most allowed by Hofstra this season. The Pride had seven penalty corners.
- Hofstra will be meeting LIU Brooklyn for the first time on October 14.
