Cami Larsson each added one goal and two assists to lead the Pride to a 7-1 non-conference victory over the Blackbirds of LIU Brooklyn at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium Sunday afternoon.
The Pride snapped a two-game losing slide to improve to 4-11 on the season. LIU Brooklyn dropped their fourth consecutive game to fall to 2-12 on the season.
Hofstra, which scored four times in the first half and three times in the second half, had its shutout bid spoiled in the 54
th minute by Jenna Chrabolowski for the 7-1 final. By that time, Warfel had scored in each half, the Pride had scored three goals off penalty corners and freshman goalie
Betty Bosma made seven saves in the contest for her fourth win of the season.
Sauve scored the game opening goal just 1:42 into the contest. Warfel notched her first tally of the season six minutes later to give the Pride all the offense they would need before adding five more goals.
Six Hofstra players tallied the Hofstra goals as the Pride outshot the Blackbirds, 22-15, and took 11 penalty corners to eight for LIU Brooklyn. Molly Jannell was the first of two Blackbird goalies to see action and made four saves while allowing six goals before Bridget Elison made one save and allowed one goal in the final 22 minutes.
Hofstra returns to action on Friday, October 19 when the Pride host James Madison in a CAA game at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium. Game time for the Pride's final home game of the season is 3 p.m.
