FH: De Angelis Gets 200th Win As Hofstra Tops JMU On Larsson’s Goal

Hempstead, NY – Freshman Cami Larsson scored the game's lone goal with just 2:02 to play in regulation and Pride Head Field Hockey Coach Kathy De Angelis recorded her 200th victory at the school as Hofstra defeated James Madison, 1-0 in a key Colonial Athletic Association contest at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium Friday afternoon.

Larsson, a newcomer from Cordoba, Argentina, notched the game-winner off a penalty corner, blasting a shot past JMU goalie Caitlin Nelson (3 saves). Seniors Madison Sauve, who inserted, and Madison Reed, who was the stopper, picked up assists on the tally. It was Larsson's second game-winning goal of the season.

The Hofstra victory also gave Pride Head Coach Kathy De Angelis the 200th victory of her 21-year tenure at the University. She is 200-208 overall at Hofstra.

Pride freshman goalie Betty Bosma made six saves, including four in the second half, in the Pride goal to record her first collegiate shutout. The Hofstra defense, in general, stood tall as the Dukes of JMU outshot the Pride, 20-6 with many shots blocked by Hofstra defenders. The Dukes also took 12 penalty corners to the Pride's two.

Hofstra improves to 5-11 on the season and 2-2 in CAA play heading into their final two conference games on the road next week. The Pride is currently in fourth-place in the CAA standings. The top four teams in the final regular season standings advance to the CAA Championship on November 2-4 at the University of Delaware.

Hofstra returns to action next Friday, October 26 when the Pride travel to Philadelphia to face the Dragons of Drexel at Vidas Field Complex. Game time is 6 p.m.
