MBB: Hofstra Looks To Tame Tigers

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will begin a quick two-game road trip on Thursday when the Pride face Towson.

Tip-off from SECU Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.

There will be Pride Productions live video/audio of the game, as well as live statistics. Links to all three can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra (9-7, 2-2 CAA) is coming off a 2-1 week as the Pride earned a road win over Northeastern last Tuesday before closing the week with a split of their home games, defeating James Madison and falling to Elon.

Despite the loss to the Phoenix, Hofstra got two incredible individual performances against the Phoenix as junior Justin Wright-Foreman scored a career-best 39 points, while senior Rokas Gustys pulled down 23 rebounds. It was the eighth-most points in one game by a Hofstra player and the most since Charles Jenkins scored 40 against Binghamton in 2010-11. The rebounding total was the ninth-best in program history and the most since Gustys had a career-high 25 against South Dakota last season.

Wright-Foreman has pushed his scoring average to 25.4 points per game, to rank third in the nation. Gustys also shot up the leaderboard in his area of expertise as his 11.6 rebounds per game now ranks sixth nationally.

Towson is 12-5 overall and 2-2 in Colonial Athletic Association play following a 73-62 home win over Charleston on Sunday. Zane Martin leads the Tigers with 18.1 points per game and led the team with 16 points against the Cougars.

Hofstra and Towson both faced Manhattan earlier this season with the Pride dropping a narrow two-point decision, while the Tigers won by one point.

Hofstra is 39-26 all-time against Towson in a series that began during the 1982-83 season. The Tigers swept the season series a year ago after the Pride had done the same during the 2015-16 season. The Hofstra/Towson series, which began with an 86-71 Pride victory, is the Pride's third-most common series in program history. The 65 all-time meetings rank only behind Delaware (86) and Drexel (85).
