Philadelphia, PA – Coming off the third incredible ending of the season, the Hofstra Men's Basketball team will look to carry the momentum into the next game when the Pride take on Drexel on Saturday afternoon. Hofstra heads into the game having won three of its last four games.
Tip-off from the John A. Daskalakis Athletic Center is scheduled for 4 p.m.
There will be Pride Productions live video/audio of the game, as well as live statistics. Links to all three can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.
Remarkably, Hofstra is coming off another contest involving some late game heroics. The Pride trailed Towson by 10, 67-57, with 5:22 left in the second half on Thursday before rallying for the win. The victory came courtesy of freshman
Jalen Ray, who drained a three-pointer at the buzzer for the 76-73 victory. It was Ray's second game-winner of the season after the improbable three-pointer to give Hofstra the win at Monmouth on December 6. Junior
Justin Wright-Foreman as usual played a major role in the win with a game-tying three-pointer with 20 seconds left. That bucket came on the heels of last Friday when Wright-Foreman sank a three-pointer to send the Pride's game against James Madison into overtime (Hofstra eventually won).
Wright-Foreman, who finished with 35 points, six assists and five rebounds against Towson, is now averaging 25.9 points per game to lead Hofstra (10-7, 3-2 CAA), the Colonial Athletic Association and rank second nationally. Sophomore
Eli Pemberton was second on the team with 12 points, while senior
Rokas Gustys chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds. Pemberton is second on the team with 15.1 points per game, while Gustys is tops with 11.2 rebounds per outing for Hofstra and third with 9.6 points per contest.
Drexel is 7-11 overall and 1-4 in league action after a narrow 72-66 road loss to Delaware on Thursday. Tramaine Isabell leads the team with 18.2 points per game, while Kurk Lee is second with 14.1 points and tops on the team with 66 assists.
Hofstra is 39-46 all-time against Drexel in a series that began during the 1958-59 campaign. Hofstra won the first-ever meeting, 70-64, in the Middle Atlantic Championships. Heading into Saturday's game, the Hofstra/Drexel series ranks as the Pride's second-most common opponent all-time as the two schools have met 85 times. Hofstra has only faced one team more as the Pride has met Delaware 86 times. The two teams split the meetings a year ago with both going down to the wire. The Pride had an incredible rally to win 79-77 at home after dropping an 81-80 overtime decision in Philadelphia earlier in the season.
