Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University Deputy Director of Athletics Dino Mattessich added another NCAA committee to his resume as he was recently named to the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Committee.

"I am extremely excited to serve the NCAA and collegiate lacrosse in this capacity," stated Mattessich. "The opportunity to be involved in a sport that has such a positive influence on so many people is both an honor and a privilege."

"Dino is very well-respected in both the lacrosse world and college athletics which is underscored by his selection to the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Committee," commented Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Jeffrey A. Hathaway. "In addition to his appointment to the Men's Lacrosse Committee, he is already serving as a member of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Rules Committee. Safe to say that Dino will continue to have an impact on both of these committees and will work hard to further enhance the sport of lacrosse as he has throughout his career."

Mattessich will serve his term from September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2021. The NCAA Men's Lacrosse Committee is tasked with selecting teams to participate in the NCAA Lacrosse Championship and also to evaluate and select future host sites.

Mattessich's extensive NCAA experience as it relates to lacrosse is evident as he is concurrently serving on the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Rules Committee. He began his tenure on that committee in September 2015.

Mattessich joined the Hofstra staff in the summer of 2013 and assists Pride Vice President and Director of Athletics Jeffrey A. Hathaway in all areas of the department including internal and external operations, sports administration and serving as the chief financial officer among other responsibilities. He has previously worked in athletic administration at Connecticut, Maine and Towson. He was also the head lacrosse coach at Maryland, his alma mater.

Mattessich graduated from Maryland with a degree in physical education. He received his master's of science in athletic administration from Western Illinois University and his doctorate in education administration from Morgan State University.

For the past two years, Mattessich has been involved in developing lacrosse in his homeland of Croatia.  He also serves as the Head Coach of the Croatia National Men's Lacrosse team that competed in the 2016 European Championship in Budapest.
