MBB: Hofstra To Face Delaware In CAA Championship Opening Round On Friday

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will begin play at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship on Friday with an Opening Round match-up against Delaware.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. The entire tournament will take place at the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, South Carolina.

There will be CAA.tv live video of the game and Pride Productions live audio of the game with links available on this page and via the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. The Pride Productions audio only broadcast can be heard via the portal, on the WRHU mobile app and on WRHU.org.

Hofstra heads into the conference tournament on a bit of a hot streak as the Pride has won two and three of its last five games to improve to 15-16 overall and finish the CAA portion of their schedule with a 7-11 mark.

The Pride went on the road last week and earned road victories over William & Mary and James Madison.

Sophomore Justin Wright-Foreman leads Hofstra with 18 points per game and has scored in double figures in 21 straight contests. He is coming off a week in week he averaged 27 points per game, including a career-high 35 points in the win at William & Mary that ended the Tribe's perfect home court record this season. Junior Rokas Gustys has had a strong finish to the regular season and enters the postseason with averages of 9.2 points and 12.2 rebounds per outing. He has double-doubles in three of the Pride's last four games, including 15 points and 14 rebounds at JMU.

Delaware enters the tournament with a 12-19 overall record and a 5-13 CAA mark. They enter the postseason having lost three straight games, which came on the heels of a three-game conference win streak. Ryan Daly leads the Blue Hens in scoring and rebounding with averages of 15.3 and 7.2, respectively.

Hofstra leads the all-time series with Delaware 54-31 in a series that dates back to a 115-68 Hofstra win in the first-ever meeting during the 1954-55 season. The Pride has won six straight in the series, which ended an eight-game win streak for the Blue Hens against Hofstra. Hofstra won this season's earlier games by the score of 58-56 in Newark on December 31 and 73-65 in Hempstead on February 2. With this being the 86th all-time meeting between the schools, Delaware becomes the Pride's most common opponent all-time as it has faced Drexel 85 times.
