Brian Bernardi and
Deron Powers) and spirit support (cheer, dance and pep band).
Hofstra (13-15, 5-10 CAA) dropped a hard-fought 76-72 decision to Charleston on Thursday at the Mack Sports Complex. The Pride fought back from a 15-point second half deficit and eventually had a chance to tie or take the lead on their final possession but were unable to convert.
Sophomore
Justin Wright-Foreman, the nation's most improved player, upped his scoring average to 17.0 points per game as he pouted in a game-high 26 points. Bernardi added 21 for the Pride, which also got a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds from junior
Rokas Gustys. Powers dished out a Hofstra season-high 11 assists in the game.
UNCW brings an overall record of 23-5 and a CAA mark of 12-3 into Saturday's tilt. They are coming off a narrow 66-65 victory at Northeastern on Thursday as Chris Flemmings had 21 points and six rebounds and C.J. Bryce totaled 18 points and nine rebounds.
The Hofstra/UNCW series began when the Pride joined the CAA starting with the 2001-02 campaign. The all-time series is deadlocked at 18 as the Seahawks won this season's earlier meeting by the score of 84-76 down in Wilmington. Hofstra has won five of the last nine meetings in the series.
