Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will begin 2018 on the road as the Pride will face conference rival Northeastern on Tuesday at Matthews Arena.
Tip-off for Hofstra's second Colonial Athletic Association game of the season is scheduled for 7 p.m.
There will be Pride Productions live video and audio of the game, as well as live statistics. Links to all can be found on this page as well as the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.
Hofstra (7-6, 0-1 CAA) will look to end a three-game losing skid in the contest against the Huskies as the Pride is coming off a heartbreaking 90-87 defeat at William & Mary on Saturday. The Pride suffered the loss in their conference lid-lifter despite another virtuoso performance from junior
Justin Wright-Foreman, who poured in a career-best 36 points against the Tribe. Wright-Foreman is now averaging 24.2 points per game to rank fifth nationally.
Wright-Foreman and senior
Rokas Gustys are both nearing a career milestone as the duo both have sights set on 1,000 career points. Gustys has 975 career points, while Wright-Foreman is close behind with 938 career points. They will become the 35th and 36th members of the 1,000-Point Club at Hofstra.
Northeastern is 8-5 and 1-0 in the Association after opening CAA play with an 81-70 road win at James Madison. Vasa Pusica, who had 31 points against the Dukes, is the lone member of the Huskies in double figures with 16.2 points per game.
Tuesday's game will mark the 42nd between Hofstra and Northeastern with the Pride holding a narrow 21-20 lead in the all-time meetings courtesy of four straight wins in the series. Hofstra won both meetings a season ago as they captured a 78-73 win at home before completing the season sweep with a 74-64 win in Boston. The first-ever meeting occurred during the 1949-50 season with the Huskies earning a close 55-53 victory.
Following the trip to Boston, Hofstra will finally return home to the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex on Friday, January 5 against James Madison and on Sunday, January 7 against Elon. It will be the Pride's first games at the Mack Sports Complex since November 30.
